If you are just interested in what is coming up for Sunday services, this is the place to check. If you want to know more about what is going on at the church with other activities, please check the Calendar page.
All Sunday services begin at 10:30 am at the Dome. You can check our home page for directions to the church or email us for more detailed directions. During the regular church year, children begin in the service with the adults or in a special children's worship service before going to their religious education classes. There is a play space for children who attend during the summer months or during holiday weekends, when there are no religious education classes scheduled.
During the summer, our services are a little different. Services in a Sack are services created by experienced Worship Committee members around a sermon written by a well-known UU minister. Anyone who is interested in trying out presenting a service is welcome to volunteer to lead one of these easy services. Please contact the vice president/worship chair for more information.
September 5 - "Awesome" - A Common Bowl service inspired by The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha in which we will share those things in our lives that give zest to living. As the author says, “Let’s all get into it. And lets all get a little bit Awesome!” Presented by Ned Woolums
September 12 - "Ingathering 2010" - Each year at this time, our congregation celebrates a Homecoming of sorts. This is a time for all of us to take a collective deep breath and and celebrate with a service that highlights what everyone did (or didn't do!) over the summer. Remember to bring any water you've gathered over the last few months to add to our Common Water Bowl, and bring any small stones you collected on your travels to add to our Joys and Concerns basket. Coordinated and presented by Jeff Madzia.
September 19 - "Culture War Fallout" - We are seeing a clash of ideologies being played out here in our country and around the world. Dr. Waun will look at how mainstream churches are embroiled in, and coping with some of the issues at the heart of the conflict.
September 26 - "Taming Destructive Emotions"
We are often overwhelmed and consumed by emotions which we consider negative:
anger, frustration, disappointment, depression. We recognize that these
emotions can be destructive and harmful, yet we are often at a loss on how to
deal with these emotions when they consume us. We are joined by ordained
Buddhist monk, the Venerable KC Madika Dakai WarEagle, who will help us in
examining these emotions and learning to cope with them in a more constructive
fashion. Her morning worship presentation will be followed by a brief lunch,
then a longer workshop presentation in the afternoon which will be open to the
public. Our speaker holds a BA in Religion, and is an ordained Buddhist monk.
She maintains the Great Determination Buddhist Practice Center and Hermitage in
Ohio, an intentional sustainable community on a reclaimed coal mine. She is an
instructor in "Awakening Stillness QiGong", an energy moving
meditation related to the martial arts which has no element of competition or
strife.

Facilitated by Ed and Robin Mahonen.
